Bloody Poetry

By Howard Brenton

Directed by Jessica Jenkins

March 15-31, 2019

An elegiac and fiery play about poetry and failed utopias, Bloody Poetry follows Percy Shelley and Lord Byron, and their lovers Mary Shelley and Claire Clairemont, into exile. This lyrical play is a portrait of collapsing ideals in the face of human failing.

Bloody Poetry arrives Friday, March 15, and runs through March 31; showtimes are Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00 pm, Sundays at 2:00 pm, at the Acrosstown Repertory Theater (619 South Main Street, Gainesville, FL, 32601, in the historic Baird Center across from Heartwood Soundstage and next door to Akira Wood). There is a $5 “sneak preview” performance on Thursday, March 14.

Stick around after the show to meet our cast and crew, including Devin Grant Huchingson as Percy Bysshe Shelley, Andrea Young as Mary Shelley, Milo Brooks as Lord Byron, Emma Grimm as Claire Clairemont, Michael Glover as Dr. William Polidori and Kaitie Graves as Harriet Westbrook.
