2022 | 01 The Importance of Being Earnest

January 28 – February 20, 2021

Oscar Wilde’s
The Importance of Being Earnest

Directed by Andrea Young

A trivial comedy for serious people, this Oscar Wilde classic is a farce about two men who pretend to be named Ernest and the women who love them only for their name. Satirizing the carelessness with which people treat serious institutions like marriage, this subversive story will appeal to a wide range of malcontents and ne’er-do-wells.

The Importance of Being Earnest arrives Friday, January 28, and runs until Sunday, February 20; showtimes are Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00 PM, and Sundays at 2:00 PM, at the Acrosstown Repertory Theater (619 South Main Street, Gainesville, FL, 32601, in the historic Baird Center at Depot & Main, across from Heartwood Soundstage and next door to Akira Wood).

There is a $5 “sneak preview” performance on Thursday, January 27 at 8:00 PM. Tickets available online or at the door.

Tickets are $20 for the general public with a $5 discount for seniors (55+), students, teachers, first responders, veterans and active military, and may be purchased below. A limited number of tickets may also be available at the door thirty minutes before showtime.
