Don’t be shy, you were born to be a star! Join us at open auditions for the wild and woolly The Skin of Our Teeth, by Thornton Wilder, at the Acrosstown Repertory Theatre!

The Ice Age is upon us, the Floods are coming, War is Inevitable. We take a journey starting is suburban Excelsior, New Jersey with The Antrobus’ and the “Ancient and Honorable Order of Mammals, Subdivision Humans” through plagues, heat waves, deep freezes, pestilence, depressions & dozens of more wars while through it all, we keep moving forward. Thornton Wilder’s 1943 Pulitzer Winning Play is a hilarious, absurd, tribute to the “indestructibility of humanity.” 

Auditions will be held at 7:00 pm on Sunday & Monday, February 18 & 19, at the theater– 619 South Main Street in the Baird Hardware complex, next door to Akira Wood and across from Heartwood Soundstage. You don’t have to be present both nights, but it doesn’t hurt. No prepared monologues required– expect cold readings from a provided script. Please also dress comfortably and be prepared to move!

Performance dates are Fridays through Sundays, April 20 to May 6, 2018.

CHARACTER INFORMATION:

Seeking 12 Actors/Jugglers/Singers/Dancers/Improvisers/Multi-talented Performers
Stage Manager/Announcer/Chorus : Any Age/Any Gender
Mr. Antrobus : Male, 20-100yrs old; Husband, Inventor, Father of Gladys/Henry; larger than life
Mrs. Antrobus : This role has been cast
Sabina : Female, 20-40yrs old; the Antrobus’ maid, frequently breaks the fourth wall to converse with the audience
Gladys : Female, 10-30 yrs old; hope of humanity
Henry : Male 10-30 yrs. old; destroyer of humanity
Chorus : Six roles, any age/gender to fill roles such as Homer, Moses,Muses, Dinosaurs, etc.

Ages and genders are flexible, at the discretion of the director. All races, colors, sizes, genders, gender-identities and experience levels welcome! Although this IS an audition, we’re not judgmental, and we hope you feel welcome here and have a great time. If cast you will be compensated by the roar of applause and the joy of being part of the Acrosstown family.
