Don’t be shy, you were born to be a star! Join us at open auditions for The Nether by Jennifer Haley.
The Nether is a virtual wonderland that provides total sensory immersion. Just log in, choose an identity and indulge your every desire. But when a young detective uncovers a disturbing brand of entertainment in a realm called The Hideaway, she triggers an interrogation into the darkest corners of the imagination.
Auditions will be held at 7:00 pm on Sunday & Monday, February 24 & 25, 2019, at the theater– 619 South Main Street in the Baird Hardware complex, next door to Akira Wood and across from Heartwood Soundstage. Callbacks will be the latter part of the second night. No prepared monologues required–- expect cold readings from a provided script. Please also dress comfortably and be prepared to move and have a great time!
Performance dates are Fridays through Sundays, April 26 – May 12, 2019.
Available Roles:
Detective Morris: head of the investigation of The Hideaway. A 30-40, F
Sims/Papa: creator of The Hideaway. A 40-60, M
Doyle: an older man who has a connection to The Hideaway. A 40-60, M
Woodnut: a frequent visitor at The Hideaway. A 20-35, M
Iris: young girl who works at The Hideaway. A 9-15, F *
*Actresses under 18 who are interested in playing the role of Iris are required to have a parent or guardian attend the audition. For any parent/guardian who would like to learn more about this role and meet the director in advance, please reach out to Jennifer@acrosstown.org.
NOTE: The Nether is a play that deals with an uncomfortable, adult subject matter. Cast members will need to be willing to engage in frank conversation about the situations in which their characters find themselves.
Ages and genders are flexible, at the discretion of the director. All races, colors, sizes, genders, gender-identities and experience levels welcome! Although this IS an audition, we’re not judgmental, and we hope you feel welcome here and have a great time. If cast you will be compensated by the roar of applause and the joy of being part of the Acrosstown family.
