The Acrosstown Repertory Theatre is pleased to announce the Florida premiere production of the new play Commander by Mario Correa. It opens Friday, October 14, at 8:00 PM and runs Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00 PM and Sundays at 2:00 PM through October 30. There will also be a $5 preview on Thursday, October 13 at 8pm (cash-only at the door).

Is America ready for the first openly gay President? Is it ready for his partner? Commander centers on the complicated relationship between Ned Worley, a former college professor-turned-unlikely Governor of Rhode Island, and his possibly alcoholic partner, Richard. In this darkly comic play, an ambitious politician battles public doubts, personal demons and his own partner in a troubled quest to be President.
