Macbeth
By William Shakespeare
Directed by Carolyne Salt

Performance dates: Jul 19-Aug 11, 2019

Don’t be shy, you were born to be a star! Join us at open auditions for Shakespeare’s Macbeth on May 5 & 6, 2019

Exploring themes of prophesy, ambition, crime, and betrayal, with a healthy dose of sex and the supernatural, the eerie play, Macbeth, is considered cursed, and its name reviled in theaters. Under Salt’s deft hand, expect brilliantly entertaining cool chills on a hot summer’s night, and thought-provoking Shakespeare of a caliber rarely seen in even much larger cities, certain to excite neophytes and scholars alike.

Auditions will be held at 7:00 pm on Sunday & Monday, May 5 & 6, 2019, at the theater– 619 South Main Street in the Baird Hardware complex, next door to Akira Wood and across from Heartwood Soundstage. Callbacks will be the latter part of the second night. No prepared monologues required–- expect cold readings from a provided script. Please also dress comfortably and be prepared to move and have a great time!

Performance dates are Thursdays through Sundays, Jul 19-Aug 11, 2019.

Available Roles:

All: No roles have been pre-cast. There are 30 (THIRTY!) different named roles in Macbeth (not including attendants and assorted lords, ladies and spear-carriers), some of which are being eliminated or combined into other roles– the director intends to keep this cast a tight ensemble. She also plans to have most actors double (or triple, or quadruple) as spirits, who serve the witches and provide a looming presence throughout the play. We promise, regardless of the size of your role, you will not be bored!

Ages and genders are flexible, at the discretion of the director. All races, colors, sizes, genders, gender-identities and experience levels welcome! Although this IS an audition, we’re not judgmental, and we hope you feel welcome here and have a great time. If cast you will be compensated by the roar of applause and the joy of being part of the Acrosstown family.

We look forward to seeing you at auditions for Macbeth!
