ARTY: Plum Pudding for Christmas &
Hershel & the Hanukkah Goblins       *       Dec 18-20, 2015
By Virginia Kahl/Eric Kimmel, Directed by Susan Washington/Kathy Byrne

The Acrosstown’s Youthtroupe is sure to delight children of all ages in cheerful adaptations of these beloved children’s books.

Plum Pudding for Christmas: It is Christmas in the castle, and the King is coming to dinner, which the Duchess and her 13 daughters are preparing. But the King insists on plum pudding, and there are no plums. Whatever will they do? Our youthtroupe adapts this timeless 1956 classic by Virginia Kahl into its completely original production, complete with singing, dancing and joy. But will there be plums?!

Hershel & the Hanukkah Goblins: Thanks to author Eric Kimmel, our youthtroupe was allowed to reimagine this 1990 Caldecott Honor winner as a triumph for the stage. Terrible goblins haunt the old synagogue and are preventing the village people from celebrating Hanukkah– snuffing out the menorah candles, destroying the dreidels, and pitching the potato latkes on the floor. Armed with only his wits (and some pickles, eggs and a dreidel), can Hershel the traveler from Ostropol rid the synagogue of the goblins in time for Hanukkah?

Regardless of what you celebrate this season, come celebrate it with the Acrosstown! You’re sure to leave laughing, charmed and ready to celebrate.
